Violin maestros Ganesh and Kumaresh are known popularly as artists, musicians, performers, composers, directors, producers, reseachers and as teachers. Trained by their father T.S. Rajagopalan, a veteran violinist, Ganesh and Kumaresh were hailed as ‘Child Violin Prodigies’. The brothers gave their first public performance in 1972, when Ganesh was just 7 years old and Kumaresh 5 years old. Since then, the brothers have performed in different places in India and in a number of countries across the globe.

Ganesh and Kumaresh are today a much honoured and widely travelled musical team. They have been the only violin duo to have performed for more than three decades together. Ganesh and Kumaresh have carved a niche for themselves in Indian instrumental music with their impeccable technique in playing the instrument and in interpreting the musical forms. Their deep – rooted strength in playing Carnatic music in the traditional way, strict adherence to classicism and virtuosity with an innovative approach has made them the favourites with purists as well as the uninitiated.

Ganesh and Kumaresh have received a number of awards including the prestigious ‘Kalaimamani’ award, 1997 presented by the government of Tamil Nadu; the youngest violin artists to receive the ‘A–Top’ rating by All India Radio in 1995; the ‘Asthana Vidwans’ by Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Mutt; ‘Asthana Vidwans’ by Srimad Andavan Ashramam Srirangam; ‘Dwaram Venkataswamy Naidu Award’ to name a few.
